Isn't It Too Much? 这也太臭美了吧

I need some help, please give me your opinion and advice.... Isn't it too much? We were driving to a friend this weekend.  These two girls were so excited and had been busy dressing up themselves. They did put on some make-up as well ( lipstick and little bit eye shadow).

What kind of point of view or attitude should I have? ??? Anja has learned a lot from the big girls at school (She even asked me to buy her mascara once, and  I rejected her request of course ), and Anette has learned a lot from Anja..... I don't think I emphasis much on this "beauty thing" usually....What I always say to them is "be kind and think for others, not only yourself.."  How should I react  to their attention of  "being pretty"???

Here we go, I know more issues are coming on the way....

i think at this age it is normal to play dress up and have fun, i wouldn't take it too seriously. even my E at 5 wants to put on mom's make up (that i don't even wear but have for that rare occasion like a wedding or something). let them have fun once in a while, but i wouldn't be too worried over it. you are teaching her good values, she will not forget that. you are her guide.

Oh what beauties! Yes let them indulge on "special" occasions. Why not?
You are doing well teaching them good values and you are the best example little girls could have. Beauty is in simplicity, in kindness, in love. I am certain they know that from their beautiful mommy!

Dear K and Kenza, thank you for your message. I grew up in a very different circumstance than the western world. I was not encouraged to behave like this when I was little. If a Chinese girl or boy had been paying too much attention on this beauty thing, she or he will be advised of not doing so,instead, should be more concerned about learning useful thing: such as go and read a book etc. So, sometimes I am not so sure about how to react to situations like this. It is so nice to have your ladies here, that I feel "safer".

They are perfectly fine :) It's the way our children grow ... to find her own self image and identity, building up her unique self. Agree with Kitchu that you are teaching them good values and they will know it.

There're so funny ! Elsa's just the same. And I then share your concerns and doubts... and agree only for really special occasions.
The girls live with you .. Every day they can see and feel what real beauty means... this will last their life long.

I was reading all the other comments and I have to agree with all of them. You're a good mom, kind. They will learn from you. I always tell my daughter, what makes her beautiful is what's inside of her that radiates out. She also loves to put on 'maquillage' and all her friends too. She was given a Barbie make-up set that she and her friends love to experiment with. I let them. Occasionally, when we go out, I will pretend to put on my makeup on her (very very light touch of my make-up brush with nothing on it, hehe). She feels special. : )
Don't worry too much Fei.. but you can tell your girls, they are so pretty without makeup even!
