From Viola To Violin

Anja's teacher suggested last week that Anja could switch to learning to play violin instead of viola. Yes, we would like to!  Actually, in the first place, we wished that she could learn to play violin. However, it seemed that she did not manage to get one of the "hot seats" for learning violin at this music school. The teacher said Anja is a student with high capacity of learning and violin fits better to her. I don't know much about instrument playing, however, I am glad that Anja has a teacher who is thinking for the best interest of Anja. Anja will also take an extra 40 minutes lesson every two weeks from next week. I am not intending to push her much of this playing violin matter while it seems that she does have the time and energy to do this. And she still enjoys it and thinks it is cool to be a violinist:).  She is so lucky that she is going to school in Norway instead of in Beijing. The workload at School in Norway is really light,  maybe too light to my concern.

Today is the first day of Anja's violin lesson. I am overwhelmed by the bright light through the windows. Violin is such a beautiful instrument,  and I am dreaming that Anja can play as beautifully as her teacher does one day in the future. ....

Visited her ducks as usual on the way to music school. Children have natural connection with birds, animals, fish,.....Actually, the water, the ducks, the light, the shadow, the color, how beautiful they are! Why I was so blind before?!

I read this post just as I am listening to a Bach Violin Concerto! Oh she is so amazing! Congratulations on the violin lessons it is wonderful. The photos of the ducks are so beautiful! and your words are always so full of wisdom. Yes the light is there and we should be more aware of it. (thank you for your kind comments on the blog)

So glad for Anja as she can do what she loves.
She will excel. She is a brilliant and talented kid!

I don't know there's a big difference between learning viola and violin ... just know that learning cello is more challenging for young kid.

The light is amazing. Beautiful!

Dear Alliot, Viola and violin is different. At first sight they look the same, actually if you have only one of the two instruments you may not see any difference at all. Anja uses the same instrument but the teacher changed the strings already.

Put it simply, Viola has strings of C,G,D,A. Violin has strings of G,D, A, E. ... :)

Anja got up earlier today. She could not help to play with her "new violin" while waiting for her sister who is eating breakfast. I suppose that she had managed to wake up all our neighbors:)

Sweet and talented Anja ! Yes, she'll play beautifully. It's a blessing living wih girls who like music.
I love the light of these images. So poetic and tendre. The dream light of the first series, the reflection on the waters with ducks... It's such a pleasure to come home and take a little time enjoying your new post...

Yay for Anja! I think she has a very astute and caring teacher. Do you think Anja can teach my Keira? lol. We are still in the "eeeheeheehscratchscratch" ear-piercing stage. I'm no longer sure if it has anything to do with her left-handedness. I hope Anja enjoys the switch! These photos are beautiful..

i love that children show us the world in a whole new way. i often say this to myself when we go and see the turtles in our lake, again- when E is excited, commenting on their unique markings, i remember again what makes them beautiful. so, i understand what you are saying!

i think this is wonderful that Anja is playing violin! i hope E will find an interest in music (other than listening to it), but for now she is taking tennis lessons :)
